Baby Benson 30 weeks, 1 day

Today I had a check-up, 30 weeks, 1 day! All looked great...heart beat was 140 and Baby Benson once again was very, very active moving all around which is a very good sign. Not much to report at all...she did tell me that I was measuring a little on the small side but said there was NO need to be alarmed at all as smaller framed people tend to do that. She told me that was NO indication that the baby was too small. I looked at her like she was crazy and told her that I sure didn't feel small...she just laughed. She also went thru my glucose testing blood work results from last time and that all came back just fine. It's back in 2 weeks for the next check-up...so hard to believe that in 10 weeks or very close to it we'll have a little one:-)))))

I also got a phone call this afternoon to remind me that Kevin and I start our child birthing class on Monday...glad I got the call...I had forgotten all about it! I'm sure I will have some interesting stories to report after the classes...I remember some of Mandy's stories...LOL!

Weekend Recap with Tucker...

Well as you all know from my last post, Kevin and I kept Tucker on Friday night overnight so that Whitney and Charlie could go away for the night for their anniversary. We had such a GREAT time...I picked Tucker up from my Mom's Friday afternoon and of course the 1st thing he wanted to do when we got to my house was ride his Grave Digger and play with the dogs and feed them treats! So I got plenty of exercise following him around everywhere until Uncle KK got off at work at 8 PM. We did take a break to eat dinner but that was it and then we were back to it. He does LOVE that Grave Digger and he is quite the Dare Devil when he drives it BUT I must say he drives extremely well for a 2 1/2 year old! We then came in to take a bath, play a little more since Uncle KK was home and then it was off to bed. I decided that I would let him sleep with us instead of making a pallet...he was out w/in 10 minutes of climbing in between us. Well...poor Tucker got to coughing from all the drainage he is having from allergy/sinus and got sick all over himself, myself, and the sheets and comforter too. I felt so bad for him BUT he was so calm. Dr. Ona said this was a good thing b/c he was getting all of that mucus out that needed to come out. So, I got Tucker, myself, and the bed all cleaned up and he was out again in NO time at all! (And I must say that the throw up didn't bother me at all like I think it would so I really must be preparing myself) He is quite the squirmer in bed (just as his Mommy used to be when she was a tot)...Kevin was hit in the face quite a bit and I was kicked quite a bit but I thought he did really well...however, next time we will be making a pallet so that we can get a bit more restful sleep. He awoke at 7:30 AM on Saturday so we got up and baked muffins and then more Grave Digger riding of course. We then went to lunch and he went to Me-Maw and Paw-Paw's since Kevin and I and Whit and Charlie had a wedding to attend at 3. We had such a great time but boy was I exhausted...I so am having the 3rd trimester tiredness!

More posts to follow that I'm working on so I'll try to get them up quickly...I'm off to the Dr. in the morning for a check-up...30 weeks today! ONLY 10 weeks to go!

Here's Tucker in his Grave Digger! Look at that smile...I told ya he LOVES this thing!

Gertie and Sandy patiently awaiting for Tucker to throw them treats!

All cleaned up and ready for bed!

Here I am at 29 weeks, 3 days pregnant! Exuse the hair...it wasn't quite dry just yet and excuse the pile of crud in the back corner...that's some stuff I cleaned out that I've got to get put away!

Baby Boy Gibson #3

Congratulations to my college roommate Rachel (her husband Ryan, and big brothers Taylor and Matthew) on the birth of her THIRD baby boy! Can you imagine 3 boys...LOL! Nathan Gibson was born some time yesterday (4/22) in a little town North of Richmond and weighed 7lbs, 7 oz. Rachel didn't find out the sex of any of her babies....don't know how she did it with all 3...it doesn't bother me with the 1st but if there is another one, I will HAVE to know...LOL! All are doing well:-) Can't wait to meet this new little fella!
How sweet are these boys! Matthew (2), Taylor (5), and Baby Nathan

A Whole Lot in One!

Well I had quite a few things that I wanted to blog about so I am posting "a whole lot in one"! This 1st picture of Tucker with his new motorcycle helmet was taken the beginning of the month! Uncle KK thought Tucker needed a helmet so he ordered him one and boy did Tucker love it as you can tell by his expression in the picture...he will be 3 in June and will be riding his very own 4-wheeler or dirt bike although he doesn't know it yet!
Nursery Furniture

You all know I was concerned about the nursery furniture getting put together with Kevin working the outage. Well I shouldn't have worried b/c it is ALL put together by my wonderful hubbie! Here are a few pics of him putting together the crib...he put the other 2 pieces together while I wasn't home so I don't have pics of those yet. You will see them hopefully soon...hope to get the other furniture moved this weekend so that we can get the nursery furniture out of our dining room and den.

Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday we decided to go to my old church in Gaston, NC...we don't attend there much anymore since my Grandparents have passed away but we do still try to attend occasionally. And yes, it's a good hour from Franklin to get there and we used to do it every single Sunday and then spend the rest of the day with my Ganny and Pop when they were living. So, anyway we went to church in NC (I failed to take the 1st pic of us dressed up..BOO for me...maybe this Sunday) and had lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Roanoke Rapids which was quite an experience...poor Tucker has been dealing with this horrible pollen..well he got to coughing before our food came and threw up all over his cute little Easter outfit. He was fine after all that and we got him changed and no sooner than we got that taken care of our food came out and the waitress dropped an entire bowl of applesauce on me...it was from my stomach to my leg! It was OK though, I got all cleaned up...the manager came out and said she was terribly upset BUT she NEVER came out to apologize although she walked by our table several more times. That made me a little angry BUT I let it slide b/c it was Easter and it was Sunday! Then it was back to Me-Maw and Paw-Paw's for an Easter Egg hunt with Tucker. Poor little fellow had a blast being outside despite the low grade fever we discovered he had after getting back home that afternoon. After some fun with Tucker, Kevin and I headed to my in-laws for Easter dinner and some more family time. And guess what???? The Easter Bunny came to see Kevin and I there as you'll see below! We had a wonderful an blessed day!

The peanut butter egg that Kevin and I gave Tucker...a Relay for Life group did these in Murfreesboro...they were oh so YUMMY!

Tucker cheesing after opening the rest of his Easter gift from Kevin and I...he opened them in the car...just couldn't wait!

Tucker taking some medicine from his Uncle KK to try to break that fever!

Hunting Eggs!!!

Look at all those eggs he found!

Playing golf with a stick Uncle KK found!

Me and the hubbie...boy was the wind blowing!

Tucker's Mommy and Daddy (Whitney and Charlie)

Tucker learned to ride Mom's tricycle...yes, the one she had as a little girl! He really thought he was something once he mastered that!

Paw-Paw had to give him a little push coming back up the hill!

And last but not least...the Easter Bunny surprised us with Kevin's rocking horse that he had as a little tot, a homemade chocolate pie that is the BEST, and a bucket full of candy with a monkey!

My PREGO Belly Art...27 weeks, 3 days

Today I had the pleasure of letting a friend show her talent...PREGO belly art! I chose to do the theme of our nursery....which is a MONKEY theme! A HUGE thanks to Randi for spending part of her Saturday painting on my belly. And also a HUGE thanks to Ava and Cecil for letting me come to their house to do this and for helping watch Randi's 2 boys who are adorable! The weather was perfect and we had a great time just sitting and chatting on the deck while Randi painted away! She is great and is soooo very talented! I hope to let her do a belly cast and paint as I get a little closer to delivery time. Randi does photography as well...I told you she was talented...she took step by step pictures as well for me (way too many to post) AND Ava had my camera too so that we could make sure I had Randi in some pics...you know I gotta have that for my scrapbook! So enjoy my step by step PREGO belly art...just one of the neat ways to have fun during your pregnancy...I plan to do a collage for the nursery to make it memorable. Randi mixing up the paint.

How ironic is it that my belly button was the perfect spot for one of the eye's!

Is Randi good or what...looks identical to the pillow!

Something sure was funny...told ya we had a great time!

Very Sad News

I really hate having to do this post but after yesterday's phone call from my Aunt to my Mom I knew it was coming way sooner than anybody every wanted to hear. Mom got a call yesterday afternoon around 4:20 from her sister that they were going to unhook all the tubes from my Uncle and move him to a regular room. They also said that they were going to call in Hospice so we knew things weren't good at all. Even though we were expecting the bad news, it just doesn't make it any easier as you all know. On my way into work this morning, my cell phone rang. I saw it was my Mom so I knew it wasn't good news. I answered and she told me that my Uncle Harry (Aunt Peggy's husband) had called last night around 10ish to let her know that Earl Wayne had passed. Although we never fully understand why loved ones and friends are taken from us by such horrible things, we have to trust that the one above knows what is best and like I said in a before post HE has a plan for each and everyone of us. So, I am thinking just that way and yes it's difficult but HE is the only one that will pull us through. Again, thank you all so much for your support, concerns, and prayers. Please continue to keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we get through arrangements. Many of us will have to travel and then the family will of course need your prayers in the future as it will be difficult coping without someone they loved so much.

Not the news we wanted...

Just wanted to give y'all the latest on my Uncle Earl Wayne...Mom got a call around 7ish last night from her sister...the news is not what we wanted to hear. The biopsy and other tests that he had done last week did show that the cancer is on his brain. At this point, they are able to do nothing else for him as far as treatment. They just hope to keep him comfortable. We all knew that it could possibly be bad but no matter what, you are never quite prepared. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, concerns, and prayers. Please continue to pray for my Uncle Earl Wayne, that he will be as comfortable as possible, and also please continue to keep his family in your prayers as they try to accept this heartbreaking news. As I'm sure most of you know, we don't always understand God's plan but we have to keep in mind that he knows best and that somehow keeps us all going:-)

God is Good!

I received this email from my Mom this morning...we are all so thankful that my Uncle is stable at this point after not knowing what was to come y'day after his surgery. We thank God dearly for every moment he is here knowing that we know God has a plan for him as well as all of us. Again I thank you dearly for all of your prayers.

Good morning all,

Thanks so much for your prayers and support. David and I arrived in Richmond yesterday around 5 pm. When we got there, we went straight to the room Judy and their children were waiting in. Judy said "Did you hear the good news yet?" I wasn't sure what to expect, but here goes.

When he came out of surgery everything was said to have gone well. When he went to recovery things went wrong. Upon coming around, they had to put him back on the ventilator, but just before we got there, he had become stable and were going to move him to ICU (as planned) around 6 pm(the last visiting hour of the day). About 5:30, we were notified that he was in ICU and we could come visit in a bit. So we all went in to see him. His nurse cut off the sedative so that he would come out of his sleep for a few minutes and we could see he was doing good. They think he was having a reaction to the anesthesia he was given and that was the problem. Thank the Good Lord. He still has a long was to go and we don't know the results of the biopsy yet, but we are thankful he is as well as he is at this point.Thank you all so much for your concerns.

Please continue to pray as we know God has a plan.

Love to all
Nancy

Thursday

Well this is another catch up post...I promise to post pics from Thomas the Train soon!

1st...I talked to my Mom not long ago to ask how my Uncle's surgery went...well, they were able to biopsy just fine but after being in recovery something went wrong and he is now on the breathing machine. My Aunt Peggy had just called her to tell her that she needed to come to Richmond to the hospital so I'm not sure where things are going from here...Mom didn't know all details so she will fill me in after she gets there. As I know you all are...please continue to pray hard for my Uncle...sounds like he is really needing the prayers now if ever. Thanks to all of you again for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

Now...my appointment today for Baby Benson, 26 weeks 1 day! Everything went well...I had to drink that nasty sugary drink, then wait an hour and get 2 vials of blood drawn for the gestational diabetes test. I didn't FAINT y'all so I am overcoming my phobia I think:-) I did make her lie me down instead of sitting in the chair like everyone else. Of course I got a little weak but that's to be expected with me. Once again, I am so proud of me for NOT fainting:-) They will call me with the results, hopefully all will come back normal and I won't have to go for more testing. I was pleased with my little weight gain this time...unlike last visit...LOL! Baby Benson is measuring right on track and was very, very active for the Midwife...he/she kept kicking the Doppler every time she would press down...she said "you have a VERY active little one"...heart rate was in the 140's. I told her that it had to be all that sugar in that drink I had to force down...she just laughed and said "you are probably exactly right". Back in a month for the next check up!

Since this was a lengthy visit with the testing that had to be done, it was close to lunch time when Kevin and I left so I decided to not go to work since it would be close to 1 PM when I got there and I leave at 3:30 PM...just not worth the gas to drive there. So...we decided to get some stuff done in Chesapeake. We went to Norfolk 1st so that Kevin could take care of something he needed to, then it was back to Greenbrier to Babies R' Us to register. We registered for most stuff but there are still a few things that we have not completely decided on so I'll add those on later. We still want to register at Target as well. After registering, we headed to Chesapeake Square to pick up the nursery furniture and then grabbed a bite to eat at Olive Garden, YUMMY! Back at home now after a fun, productive day! And back to work tomorrow:-(

Catching up...

Well...I feel like I have a lot to tell and catch y'all up on but I'll try not to make it too lengthy! Where do I start...

I've already posted about my Uncle Earl Wayne's surgery in the morning (see post below)...please, please keep him in your prayers as this is VERY major tomorrow.

Today (Wednesday)...I took the day off...Mom, Amanda, Whitney, and I took Tucker to see Thomas the Train at the The Ted in Norfolk. Boy was it a GREAT show! Tucker thoroughly enjoyed himself as you will see from pics that I'll try to get posted a little later. We then went to Chick-fil-a for lunch where he got to play on the indoor playground and then did a little shopping at Sam's Club.

Tomorrow...I have a doctor's appt...26 weeks, 1 day! Wow how time is flying! I will have blood work drawn for gestational diabetes...you all know how I feel about this...WEAK!!! Hopefully all will be well with the 1st vial they draw and I won't have to get more taken...still a lengthy test as they told me to prepare to stay awhile. I will let you all know how that goes.

Kevin and I ordered the nursery furniture last week and I received a call tonight that it's in so we've got to somehow get to Chesapeake before Saturday to get it b/c Kevin will start his outage at work and won't have a day off for 17 days straight. Excited to get it but disappointed that it probably won't get put together for at least a month with Kevin's busy work schedule BUT very thankful that he has a job that's not in jeapordy like those at IP.

Seems like there is something that I've leaving out...anyway...I'll post later if I do...pregnancy forgetfulness syndrome has definitely got me...LOL!

Please continue to pray...

Please continue to pray for my Uncle Earl Wayne and his family as he is going thru a major procedure tomorrow....another update on him from an email received y'day.

Tuesday, March 29
Just talked to Peggy Jean (my aunt). Seems Earl Wayne has a blood clot in his leg and they will be putting a filter in his leg to help dissolve it. She was there to see him today, but he was not in his room - out doing some tests.

They will be running a more extensive MRI on the spot on his brain and will be taking a biopsy on Thursday. This can be a very serious operation due to the location of the spot. He has become very emotional.

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow...thanks again to all of you for remembering him.
