Paisley's 1st Haircut!

Paisley had her 1st haircut yesterday! Most of you are probably saying..."she didn't have enough to cut"...well we didn't cut much, just nipped the ends so that it would grow faster and hopefully a little thicker with some shape! I took before and after pics and you can see that she did nip it some. Paisley did so well...I sat in the chair while she stood on my lap so that Miss Nettie could reach her. She was her normal, happy, show off self talking and clapping the entire time. Miss Nettie has been cutting my hair since I was little (as well as my Mom's, sister's, and Tucker's). She is so good with kids! We were done in less than 10 minutes!

BEFORE...

These 1st few were taken before we left home...

Miss Nettie talking to Paisley telling her what she was about to do.

Just before the cut.

Paisley was concentrating hard just before the 1st cut.

Cutting away...see how it was curling up every way before she cut it...it really did have a little length!

Almost done!

AFTER...

She thought she was something in that chair all by herself! And then she figured out that she could move it so we had to stay and play a bit and let her show off some more!

"Bumping up and down in my little red wagon"

This past week we enjoyed the wonderful evenings outside, it was so nice to get a break in the heat! Paisley rode in her wagon that she loves a lot as well as swinging in her swing. She absolutely LOVES to be outside! On Monday, we kept Tucker and Reed while their Mommy and Daddy went to school for parent orientation. Tucker began school this past Wednesday..Pre-K 4. While I pulled Paisley and Reed around in the wagon...Tucker was zipping everywhere in his Grave Digger (as you can tell by the pic)! Then I was able to get a few other pics of Paisley in her wagon on Wednesday while enjoying the weather! Tucker...always on the GO!
Paisley..yes this week was also the week for bruises! She is walking...well pretty much running everywhere now! She has a bruise in the middle of her forehead (as you can see) and then before this past weekend was up got one on the left side and one of the right side! Oh and she is getting her very 1st haircut tomorrow (blog post to come)...excuse her wild hair here...lol!

Reed...he kept grabbing Paisley and pulling her hair while they were riding...he is a mess! He and Paisley love each other so much!

Reed was all smiles...he had the best time riding!

Here's Paisley on Wednesday enjoying her ride!

And when we told her it was time to go in...she laid back and said "nite, nite"..it was too sweet!

Paisley Update

Just wanted to take a minute and tell you the latest on Paisley. We had to submit another stool sample to the hospital lab on Monday to check for the salmanella...the health dept likes to keep doing one until you get a negative that it's not there (even though they haven't confirmed the 1st sample the lab found salmanella in). So late yesterday afternoon Paisley's pediatrician calls to tell me that there is indeed some salmanella there! Crazy! Anyway...Paisley is her normal self eating, drinking, playing, etc. THANK GOODNESS! So no worries there! However...the salmanella will probably take around 12 weeks to rid itself from her body completely! WOW! They do NOT like to give antibiotics for this unless it is completely necessary b/c the meds tend to make it worse and prolong the sickness so we certainly do NOT want that! So because she is fine we will leave her be and do another stool sample probably in 12 weeks. The pediatrician will call and let me know hopefully today after she consults with the health dept. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers through all of this!

Paisley-13 months old 08/11/10

Paisley does love her BIG cousin Tucker! Here they are "cheezing" for the camera! (not sure why this posted before my lil story blip...sorry!)
Once again I am so behind on blogging (I had forgotten all about posting P's 13 month pics until reading another blog of a friend..wish I had time to elaborate more on her doings but I don't...I do keep up with them though for her baby book so NO worries there)! Paisley was 13 months old on August 11. She was starting to finally feel a little better on her 13 month bday after her sick spell! She is walking everywhere now...not much crawling at all! She is full of energy for sure! OH and...Just to update y'all...we took another sample to lab yesterday to be sure NO salmanella shows up...hopefully this will be it!

This was my Mom's rocking chair when she was a little girl! Paisley LOVES to rock in it!

Not such a vacation!

See my story below all the pictures...thought I could move it but couldn't (sorry)! Paisley feeling well on Sunday...she had just gotten to where she was walking everywhere all by herself!
It's Claire!

Smiley Reed!

Paisley playing with Daddy..she loves a water bottle...great entertainment!

Paw-Paw and Claire, Tucker, Davey and Winston, and Kevin

Paisley before heading to the pool...I thought it would cool her off. She was a good sport but didn't last long since she wasn't feeling well at all!

Reed LOVED the pool!

Paisley...you can tell she wasn't feeling well at all!

Paisley and Tucker at Putt-Putt...we thought she was bouncing back and it would do her good to get some fresh air. Not the case!

Tucker with the pirate!

Setting up with Charlie!

Before they put Paisley's IV in...she thought the horendous looking crib was a playground! I thought she would have been terrified but she wasn't! Of course she didn't sleep in at all...slept with her Mommy in the big bed!

Feeling so bad...getting some Daddy time!

Playing more in the monkey cage!

Mommy time!

Perking up a little...playing ball!

So worn out...she tires so quickly now...will take her a bit to get her strength back!

Me-Maw and Paw-Paw came by along with a few other visitors...Cousin Ashley, Nana and Grandaddy Benson, Aunt Whit, and Miss Sandra Duck (she brought the balloon that put a smile on her face)

Mommy and Paisley just before they told us we could go home...ALL SMILES!

Many of you know from seeing on FB that our vacation to the OBX was not such a vacation. Miss Paisley became very sick around midnight the Sunday night after we arrived on Saturday. Her fever started out at 103.5 and never got any higher thankfully! She then began with the diarrhea on Monday and then quit eating and drinking on us by Wednesday. I was in contact with our pediatrician here at home the entire time. She advised me on Wednesday to take her to be sure she wasn't dehydrated at the OBX and then let her know what they told us. Well they told us that she was only slightly dehydrated and didn't need fluids at this point. That doctor told us she should make a turn around w/in 24 hours and that it was probably viral or food poison. We had high hopes when we left there BUT Miss P got worse, her poor little stomach and then she would just moan and cry like she was hurting and all she wante to do was try to sleep. Kevin and I decided that afternoon that we would pack up that night after our scheduled family pics. My cousin was coming from Richmond so we hated to not be there for that. We got pics but I'm sure they may not be the greatest but that's understandable. Miss P was a great sport thru out. We packed up and came home Wednesday night. We saw our pediatrician on Thursday morning and she completely agreed that she was only slightly dehydrated and she really thought it was viral BUT they wanted to test her for a UTI. This required her to be catherized...I cried when I found out they had to do this to my baby. It was not as bad as it sounds but was bad enough...I was thankful that they could do it in the office and very thankful that the results came back negative! That meant NO UTI! So we were sent home and had to call back in the morning with an update. WEll she was NO better so back we go to see her again. This time we came home with a urine bag taped in her diaper to be sure she was peeing. We couldn't tell b/c every diaper was diarrhea. So we waited all day for her to pee and that didn't happen so we were admitted to the hospital on Friday afternoon for fluids and blood work. Now I was so upset that my little one was going to have to be poked and poked and I cried some more. She was quite dry so they blew several of her veins trying to get the IV in. Thankfully our pediatrician told them NOT to keep trying if they couldn't get one. So they held off until the night shift head nurse came in. He worked at CHKD previously and he was AWESOME! He got her on the very FIRST try...it was 10 PM by now. Paisley was exhausted and she immediately went to sleep. They also did blood work which they didn't have any trouble getting. And they also took stool samples. The 1st and 2nd blood work came back fine along with the 1st stool sample. However the 2nd stool sample we are not sure about...after being watched in the lab for 4 days it grew what showed to be as salmanella. The doctors find this hard to believe since it took so long to grow BUT they have to treat it like it is. So we will have to deal with the local health department, etc. The good news is that my baby girl is feeling much better. She is still not 100% herself and still has some tummy issues but if you saw her last week and the beginning of this week you would see night and day! If indeed she did have salmanella poisoning it will take a few months for her little tummy to get back to normal. Here are a few pics from last week...you can see that she tried so hard to be the happy little girl that she normally is.
